Comments: This site presents the cotton fabric, based on antique Dutch manuscripts, that we have designed and had printed in the Netherlands.

Most of these documents were originally brought to Holland during the 17th century by the merchants of the Dutch East India Company trading on India's Coromandel coast. The designs were widely copied in the Netherlands and France in the 18th century.

The original handpainted designs from India were initially used for interior decoration as well as in our national costumes. During the 18th century, when printing mills began commercially producing these flowered patterns, the cotton fabric was mainly used for clothing but sometimes, even then, for patchwork.
