Firehouse Quilts Firehouse Quilts is a wonderful group of caring
volunteers that make and donate small snuggle quilts and fleece blankies
to our local firehouses. The firefighters give the quilts to children of
all ages that have been in a fire, car wreck or other traumatic event.
Receiving these blankies and quilts help to calm them and take their
mind off of their problems for awhile. The idea for Firehouse Quilts was
born in August 2003 after contacting Station 18 in Highlands
Ranch/Littleton Colorado. Since then, we've been able to supply quilts
to all 8 of the HR/Littleton firehouses, 1 ea in Castle Rock, Kiowa
& Elizabeth. We meet twice a month making quilt tops, ironing &
cutting fabric, packaging kits, sewing on FHQ quilt labels, etc. We have

The goal of Pacific Piecemakers Quilt Guild is to promote quilting
along the Sonoma/Mendocino coast. PPQG offers
monthly
educational programs, lectures, and workshops for quilters of all skill
levels as well as opportunities for members
to give back to
their community using those skills. Monthly meetings feature programs to
inspire quilters in all aspects of
quilting ranging from
traditional to contemporary art quilt techniques and development of
textile and wearable art.
Lectures and workshops are presented
by world-famous quilters as well as our local talent. PPQG also
coordinates
several quilt shows and quilt challenges in the
community. "Comfort quilts" are made by members and
distributed to a variety of local assistance organizations as a
means of service back to our community. Additionally, PPQG makes a quilt
to be raffled at Art in the Redwoods as a
fundraiser for the
Gualala Arts Scholarship Fund. Meetings are open to anyone who enjoys
quilts or quilting or who would like to learn more.
Newcomers
and visitors are always welcome; there is a $3 charge for non-members.
New members can join at any

fee.
