WWQP Tenth Anniversary Quilt Block of the Month

A row by row quilt with various sized quilt blocks

Check back each month to see how the quilt is progressing.

To celebrate our tenth anniversary on the web, we are happy to present a new Block of the Month Series. This time, we are offering a Row-by-Row block of the month which will result in a 72" x 96" finished quilt top. We plan on having a total of six installments in this BOM series. The blocks used in the quilt range in size for 4" to 15". Several months will include more than one block pattern.

For those who wish to construct the quilt top as shown will need six different fabrics.

We chose a patriotic theme, but this quilt would look lovely in many different fabrics. The quilt could even be done with scrap fabrics

To complete the quilt, the following fabric amounts will be needed.

Note: I have not yet figured out all of the fabric requirements for this quilt. I will try to have this requirements done by the end of the week. Sue T

The completed quilt has a 6" border comprised of three individual borders. For the borders, cut the border fabrics as shown below and set aside before constructing any of the blocks. Please note that the borders will have to be pieced.

  - Cut eight strips 1-1/2" wide by 42" of Fabric 6

 - Cut eight strips 2-1/2" wide by 42" of Fabric 4

 - Cut eight strips 3-1/2" wide by 42" of Fabric 2

We hope that you enjoy this new Block of the Month series and hope that people will share their quilt tops with us when they are done.

Enjoy!!

All of our Block patterns use rotary cutting and speed piecing techniques which you can find out more about in the How-To section of the WWQP. Many of the patterns also use a technique which I call "Diagonal Corners". More information about diagonal corners can also be found in the WWQP How-To section. Please, stop by if you feel you need more information.

Note: All seam allowances are 1/4" unless otherwise specified.
