Question of the Week

Question for the week of July 25, 2005:

Our question this week comes from Imlisa1105:

Where could I find something that tells what judges look for at quilt shows/tips?

Anne Wiens :
Judging quilts is a very subjective exercise. My best advice would be to carefully read the rules for the competition you wish to enter. They will give you an idea of what the sponsors feel is important. You could write to the sponsors and ask for a copy of the scoresheet judges will use.

Sheila :
Seems that the lack of answers to your question may mean that most of us quilter's quilt for the sheer pleasure of quilting and not to be competitive...I guess if you are really serious about knowing the answers to your question, I would start with a State Quilt Guild or get in touch with someone from the American Quilt Society.
