Question of the Week

Question for the week of March 24, 2003:

Our question this week comes Pat S:

If you knew you were going to be stranded in a cabin in a blizzard for 2 weeks what SINGLE quilt book would you take with you?

Ruth R. :
"One of a Kind Quilts" the original or the second one.

Adrian :
I have been working on a dragon quilt for couple of years now. I would take that one with me to work on. Hopefully a 2-week blizzard would be time enough to get it done... maybe.
Charlotte :
Speed-Cut Quilts by Donna Poster.
Louise :
Anything written by Mary Ellen Hopkins. she's a great quilter and FUNNY!
Diane :
I would take a Thimbleberries Book to while away the hours. Ms Jensen seems like a real homey mommy type so If I were afraid of 'alone' I would be wrapped in the love of her work through her book.
Sylvia Klein :
Quilter's Complete Guide by Marianne Fons and Liz Porter
Tonie :
I think I would have to go with Mary Ellen Hopkins book "It's Okay to sit on my Quilt" as then I would have tons of patterns and could size accordingly.. now do I get graph paper, calculator, my fabric stash and favorite sewing machine as well....LOL.
PACC :
Any book by Mary Ellen Hopkins...starting with Its Ok if You Sit on My Quilt. She is so inspiring and fun and helps make quilts go right.
k saint jean :
the quilter's bible
Betsy :
The Art of Classic Quiltmaking by Harriet Hargrave and Sharyn Craig.....a very comperhensive book that contains no fluff and alot of really indepth excellent instructions on a very wide variety of things every quilter runs across, with all the vital information to solve most questions we may have....a must book for every quilters library............
Annette (in Utah) :
Quick Quilts From the Heart by Liz Porter and Marianne Fons.
Denise :
501 Blocks Better Homes & Gardens
Jane C :
If I have LOT'S o fabric, the book would be by Elly S. Any of her applique books would be more than enough.
Barbara F :
Any of Ruth B McDowell's books would be MORE than two weeks worth of really enjoyable learning.
Kathy :
Book? Quilters Complete Guide or else Quilts Quilts Quilts. Something comprehensive becasue anything else I would be finished with too quickly.
But actually, I think I would actually get some hand quilting done (I'm assuming electricity would be unreliable.) I don't usually do much hand work, but I think I couldmanage to cuddle up under a quilt under construction and get my stitch down pat. Or else my graph paper and colored pencils.
