Question of the Week

Question for the week of March 9, 1998:

Our question this week comes from Anthony

I know we touched on this back in May, 1997, but technology and quilters are advancing so fast. What's new in the world of quilt design programs? Which one do you love best?

Charlotte :
I've had EQ3 and Blockbase for over a
year now and I can't imagine going back
to the old graph paper method.
Your mind envisions so many more possibilies
when you are able to change your ideas
so quickly and easily. The online support
email list is great too.

Sandy :
I too just bought EQ3. I'm using it a lot for paper piecing patterns.
I use "Pattern-Ease" interfacing cut to 8.5" x 11" and actually print
my paper piecing patterns directly on the interfacing.
I do not have to tear away the interfacing.
EQ3 lets me do this easily so I'm a big fan - even for a newbie!

Judith :
I also have EQ3 and its sister program Block Base. Both are great and easy to use. You do have to spend a bit of time fooling around with the program in order to learn it. The best way is just to start a project or try to draw a quilt which you've already sewn to use as a teaching aid. There really are endless possibilities.
Mary Woldstad :
I just bought EQ3 and so far I like it a lot. Had trouble getting my printer to print the patterns out but now have that working. There is so much to learn and do with this program that I don't anticipate it's being outdated soon.
