Question of the Week

Question for the week of December 8, 1997:

Our question this week comes from Sue T

What quilt related gift or gifts would you like to get for the holidays this year?

MELISSA :
AN ELECTRIC STENCIL CUTTER AND A NEW SEWING MACHINE

Jullie :
I would like Santa to bring my daughter her own sewing machine. I can't seem to get to my machine now that she has started quilting. It is quite frustrating. I would also like quilting books and the time and money to go to a quilting retreat.

Mary B. :
I'd really like my family to help me get my sewing room organized so it's more functional.
Marie :
A generous " Gift Certificate" , wouldn't that be wonderful, then I could get all those extra tools I have thought were a little too much, but wanted so very badly. Or that fabric I have been dreaming about for the last three weeks, that just may be gone by the time I am able to save the money. Also I would love a new pair of Genger Scissors!!! Actually I could go on and on, that book "Two Hour Applique" that is going for $24.00, i would love that. This is really a hard question for one who never stops wanting!!!!!
lin humphrey :
OOOhhhh, just like a Santa's list huh? I have been really good this year, so I am asking for a new storage unit for my accessoriess and some new shelving for my fabrics, good overhead lighting and maybe a TV/VCR and cd player (I would NEVER have to come out!) Since we are already "going there" let me add this: twice or three times a year I would like a Quilters Weekend with my best quilting buddies, provide the meals and don't bother us for at least 72 hours! And while I am at it, how about an "Open Account" at the fabric store! Maybe a trip to Paducah and Houston, too! .....and not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.
Anthony :
In this order:
1)house cleaning service for 6 months.
2)a baltimore album quilt
3)a Gamill pro quilting machine
Susan Quinn :
The BEST christmas gift would be a 4 rail (Z4), no baste Grace quilting frame. I would give up my eye teeth to have one of these frames!
Linda Ferguson :
quilting frame ( nice one not the PVC stuff)
michelle :
I would like for someone to come in and organize my quilting room for me.also I would like alot more fabric any colour is fine.. thanks santa oh yes, Iwould like world peace too...
Lucy Czesak :
A cutting mat, and a roller cutter
A gift certificate to a fabric store
Lots of thread
kathleen (6daniels@gte.net) :
I would like a new magazine subscription for those days when I need inspiration on what to do with all these eighth yard gems that I just had to have.....

Sally :
Since I'm about to graduate from college and enter the real world again (already completed a career in the military) I job in the industry would be a wonderful gift :).
Louise Murphy :
A source for the book "MAKING ROOM FOR
QUILTS" published by Patchwork Place for at least 6 of my newest quilting friends who would love to be
able to buy it . Unfortunately, it is out of publication...Merry, Merry....
Shirley Denney :
Just add to my stash please, light, medium, and/or dark, print or solid. I'll take it all!
Ann Anderson :
I would like to receive thread in lots of colors.
Kim :
Dear Santa,
For Christmas thisyear, I want the book Fabled Flowers, rotary cutter blades, Sullivan's Basting Spray, An assortment of almost solid fabrics, brights and pastels, some more bobbins for my machine, the missing cord to my serger, some good cocoa, and an evening spent wrapped in my favorite quilt watching mindless car chase movies.
Susan Sharp (susan.sharp@dial.pipex.com) :
I'd really like a delivery of the quilt
basting spray you guys keep talking
about. I haven't seen it for sale in the
UK and with two quilt tops to baste over my
Christmas vacation, I could do with some!

Gale :
EQ3 Block book
FABRIC
time to work on my projects
Linda :
I would to give and receive a functional
quilted Bible cover. One that have a
place for everything when you go to
church...ie. glasses, pen, notepad,
tissue etc.
Sissie :
I would live to have a quilting frame on a stand so that I would not have to have my quilts on my lap all the time. And a gift certificate for fabric so I could make more quilts and quilted gifts for family and friends. I would also like to have some quilting books because I don't have any at this time.
My seven year old son likes helping me come up with ideas for quilts but you can just imagion what kind of ideas they are. And I would say that the thing I would need the most is needles for my sewing machine and bobbin is always a plus. There is so much that you could ask for on this subject my husband even quit asking me what I wanted and just started buying me some thing to do with sewing. Even if he doesn't know what it is.
Kim :
My own sewing room! I get tired of having to set up and clean up my sewing machine, ironing board and projects each night just so the kids can eat at our dining room table (the nerve of them! <BG>).
Lilo :
I would like a sewing machine with both:
knee-lift and additional upper-transport.

Caroline Blecherman :
(1) I'd love a gift certificate for some fabulous hand-painted fabrics.

(2) I'd love a fabric-dyeing book, but one that's very, very elementary.

laura :
I would love to have all of my completed tops professionally machine quilted so that they become REAL quilts!
Susan :
I'd like a new chair for my sewing/computer room. One with a comfortable seat and a supportive back, wheels too to go back and forth between putter & sewing maching.
suesewqult :
I'd like a new chair for my sewing/computer room. One with a comfortable seat and a supportive back, wheels too to go back and forth between putter & sewing maching.
Cheri :
I would like to have my quilting area and all my quilting supplies straighten out so I am not always having to move something around to make a working space for myself. Also a catalog of all my quilt related books and tools.
Steph :
The book titled "My First Quilt Book
(or it Should Be)". Very informative
excellent pictures.
Angie :
A full week of quilting without stopping
to do any chores! I know I'm getting a
few fat quarters from my quilting daughter.
(She's 8 and doesn't keep secrets very
well! The fun part will be seeing just
what she chooses!)
Lily Hall :
Some bobbins for my stocking, since I never seem to have enough.
Quilting books, of course. Gift certificates for some sewing machine repairs.
What we all need more of..time!

Carol Vick :
I would love to get a full bolt of a good grade of muslin.
I just can't seem to quilt without muslin.
Patty Kennedy :
Jeanna Kimball"s new book and Quilters Computer companion book
dolores barraclough :
New Ideas, just learned envelope quilting, looking for ideas like that.
Carol :
I would like to receive a journal to keep track of all the projects that I have completed througout the year.
Suzanne :
I would like some Cannon fabric sheets to make computer labels. Since I don't have a subscription to a quilting magizine -- I would like one. Also, Carol D. Newest book.
Carla :
I'd like some quilt batting to finish some of these tops I have ready to sandwich, and then the time to to it all.
Adelle Palmer :
I would really love a new cutting board, or of course quilting books would be great. Then there is always fabric, so a gift certificate to my favourite fabric store would also be great... Where do I stop? How about a new sewing machine? I love to dream.

Katie :
I would like to recieve a new pair of quilting scissors, a new sewing machine, and a new quilt book.
